Al Dunning endorses only the best. That is why his name is synonymous with Schutz Brothers Leather. Al has owned and operated "Almosta Ranch" in Scottsdale, Arizona since 1970. Born in Chicago in 1950, Al's family moved to Arizona when he was 8 years old. He began riding horses with his sisters and went on to further his talents with mentors such as Jim Paul, John Hoyt and Don Dodge. His expertise in all facets of equestrian events has elevated him to great success. Al and his students have won 32 World and Reserve World titles in AQHA, NRHA, NRCHA, and NCHA. Al has won numerous awards for his contributions to the industry including receiving the 1996 AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year Award and being chosen the 2003 NCHA Zane Schulte Trainer of the Year.
Over the years, Al has developed his multifaceted business with a focus on the development of champion horses and riders while working hard to promote all the great sponsors that stand beside him. Al conducts clinics worldwide, manages AD Tack, operates Dunning Consulting LLC, and has recently developed Team AD International, an online training program.
Al married his wife Becky in 1971. Becky is a well-known horse show announcer, and co-founded America's Horse Cares, a division of the AQHA Foundation, which focuses on therapeutic riding charities. The Dunnings have two children, Grady and McKenzie (Parkinson), and one granddaughter, Gracie Ann Parkinson.
