Western Horse Correction Bits
Western horse correction bits use different levels of correction. The severity of this style of western bit is based on the height of the port as well as the length and position of the western bits shank. Western correction bits are used by trained horsemen to finish and fine tune horses and a training tool that teaches a horse to carry themselves and on horses that already have experience being ridden under saddle. The higher the port of the bit and wider the more tongue relief. Bits with very high ports will cause pressure on the top palate of the western horse's mouth. These western correction bits also apply pressure on the bars of the western horse's mouth rather then on the horses tongue like a tom thumb would. These western horse bits can be severe and are not recommended to be used by the s inexperienced horse rider.
